AFRICA CHILDREN RISING PROJECTS

According to Proverbs 22:6

“Train up a child in the way he should go and when he grows, he will never depart from it”.

AWR ultimately with its children projects aims at securing the future of these children early enough so as to build their confidence and also change the narrative at an early age.

We achieve this by periodic visits to our adopted school and appealing for sponsorship for the needy but brilliant children.

We encourage all well-meaning women to donate towards this cause.

AFRICA YOUTH RISING PROJECTS
Under our youth programmes, we aim at empowering young girls to take their science and maths seriously as according to a global study by UNESCO conducted a little over two years ago, out of the total number of STEM students in higher education, only 35% are women. The same study establishes that female student enrolment is particularly low in ICT (3%), in natural science, mathematics and statistics (5%) and in engineering, manufacturing, and construction (8%).
 
In Ghana, girls and women are confronted with even worst challenges. According to UNESCO’s 2017 report, our girls have been kept way below par as a result of:

Gender insensitive teaching methodologies
The absence of clear policy guidelines on gender in the education sector
Lack of capacity (funding and competent staff) by the Girls’ Education Unit (GEU) and Science Education Unit (SEU) to play their mandated roles effectively
Limited inter-sectoral collaboration among the various government ministries and agencies in the promotion of girls’ education.

OVERALL OBJECTIVES
The overall objective of Africa Women Rising (AWR) is investing in the betterment of women and youth. Our strategy is that once we touch one person, that person will impact her community. We do this by using what we term at AWR as 3E’S.

At Africa Women Rising (AWR), we recognize that the African woman over the years has been relegated to the background across all areas of life i.e. economically, socially and politically. In empathizing therefore, we understand and share in the challenges of other women in the sub-region. We take our time to ask the right questions, elicit the right responses so we can provide tailor made solutions.
We are especially excited about AFCFTA, which will give our women/associates the opportunity to trade not only locally but internationally as well. Additionally, we equip them to be export ready so they can take advantage when opportunities become available.
In energizing women, we encourage and excite them with the ‘can do’ attitude. We reassure them that no vision is too big to be achieved and that even with baby steps, results can be achieved.
In elevating women, we recognize and honour high achievers as a way of motivating the other women to also work hard. Thereby letting the women understand that hard work pays.
